3 1/3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
11/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. shortening2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. mashed pumpkin
2/3 c. water
2/3 c. nuts, chopped
2/3 c. dates chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. Cream together shortening and sugar in mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients, mixing well. Stir in nuts (walnuts) and dates. Pour in 2 greased 9x5x3 loaf pans. Bake in 350º oven for 1 hour or until bread tests done.
