4 beef cube steaks
1/4 c flour
5 T cornmeal
salt & pepper to taste
1 egg beaten
meat tenderizer
1/2 c cooking oil
1 T butter
1/8 c flour or more
1 1/2 c milk
1/2 onion, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle steaks with meat tenderizer and salt. Combine flour, cornmeal, salt and pepper. Beat egg in a separate bowl. Dredge steaks in flour mixture, then egg then flour mixture again. Heat oil in a skillet. When oil is hot, brown steaks on both sides for about 5-7 minutes. Remove the steaks from pan, leave grease in pan. Reduce heat, add flour and a dash of salt. Brown flour. Add milk and butter, stirring constantly to eliminate lumps. Add flour as needed and stir until thickened to desired consistency. Return steaks to pan and add onions. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20 to 30 minutes until meat is tender.
