3/4 cu shortening creamed with
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp grated orange rind
2 egg yolks, well beaten
3 1/4 cup cake flour
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup orange juice
3/4 cups water
1/2 cup moist shredded coconut
4 egg whites, beaten stiff

Directions:
Directions:
cream shortening and sugar; add orange rind, and beaten egg yolks
Blend then sift flour , baking powder and salt
add this to first mixture alternately with orange juice and water
Beat just enough to make batter smooth.
Blend in coconut and beaten egg whites. Bke in layer cake pans for 30 minutes at 350.
