1 can (1 lb 14oz) fruit cocktail
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups sifted flour
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups raisins

Butter Sauce:
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk

Decoration:
candied cherries
flaked coconut

Directions:

Cake:
Put all cake ingredients, including syrup from fruit into a large bowl. Stir until well blended. Pour into a buttered and floured 8" or 9" tube pan and bake at 325ºF for 2 hours or until cake test done. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then release from pan with a spatula; turn out on rack and make butter sauce.
Butter Sauce:
In a saucepan, boil butter, sugar and milk for 3 minutes. Spoon over the hot cake. Garnish with coconut and cherries.
