Cake:
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 - 5 eggs
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
2 - 3 teaspoons butternut flavoring

Filling:
1 eight ounce package cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 box confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon butternut flavoring
1 cup pecans, chopped

Cake:
Cream shortening and sugar for 10 minutes. Add eggs and beat slowly for 1 minute. Add 1 cup flour. Beat 1 minute. Alternately add remaining flour and milk a little at a time, mixing until creamy. Add flavoring. Bake in tube pan 1 hour at 325º. Increase temperature to 350º and bake 10 - 20 minutes.

Filling:
Bring ingredients to room temperature. Mix all thoroughly. Spread on cool cake.
