Cookies:
3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter, creamed
3/4 cups sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 and 1/2 tsp anise extract
2 tblsp milk

Icing:
1 lbs box of confectioner's sugar
2 tblsp milk
1 tsp anise extract
water

For Cookies: Cream together wet ingredients. Blend in dry ingredients. Chill one hour. Roll out dough on a floured surface, to 1/8 inch thick. Use whatever cookie cutters you would like to make shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 400º for 5 to 8 minutes. Ice and decorate with colored sugars.

For icing: Mix ingredients, slowly add water until there is a frosting consistency.
