Cookies:
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tblsp sugar, plus 1 tblsp for dipping
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg yolk
1 3/4 to 2 cups flour

Browned Butter Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
2 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 to 4 tblsp milk
almond or pecan for garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugars; cream together. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Blend in flour. Shape into balls the size of a 50 cent piece. Flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350º on a greased pan for 7 to 9 minutes.

When cool, frost with Browned Butter Frosting. Brown the butter, blend in powdered sugar and vanilla. Gradually add 3 to 4 tblsp milk until the frosting is of spreading consistency.

Garnish each cookie with an almond or pecan half.
