3 lb round steak, 1/2 inch thick
1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 T. paprika
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 to 1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 c. (or large) sliced onion
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 /12 c. water
milk, optional
1 c. sour cream
2 T chopped parsley, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Pound steak with meat mallet to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into serving pieces. Dredge meat with mixture of flour, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder. Brown meat in hot oil on both sides. Remove meat from pan, reserving drippings. Place meat in roaster or baking dish, alternating with layers of onion and mushrooms. To drippings in skillet, stir in remaining flour mixture.

Serve with rice or mashed potatoes. The paprika gives a nice color and flavor. Canned mushrooms are o.k. The flavor also is slightly different if the sour cream is added to the gravy after baking.
