2 cups warm water (115 degrees)
1 pkg dry yeast
3 T sugar
2 to 3 T shortening
5 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Sift 3 cups flour into yeast mixture and mix. Add shortening and mix. Sift in 2 more cups of flour and 2 tsp salt. Mix for about 1 minute. Place in greased bowl in warm spot until double in size. Make into 2 loaves, place in greased loaf pans. Let double in size. Bake for 35 minutes. Remove from pans and rub with butter.
