8 lbs sugar
1/2 gallon white Karo syrup
1 pint milk
3 oz paraffin
butter the size of an egg
2 1/2 T Knox gelatin

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 3 ingredients and heat till hot, but not boiling. Add paraffin and butter, heat to 230 º. Add gelatin and heat to 252ºin winter and 254º in summer. Cool until able to touch, and then with buttered hands, pull until too stiff to continue. Place in a tub and cool until ready to eat.

Walt and Bobby and the Ertel brothers and sisters used to love "Taffy Pulling parties" at the Mahaffeys. It was a great tradition, and this is possibly the only copy of the Taffy recipe outside the Mahaffey family.
