1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. instant coffee granules
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. margarine or butter at room temperature

60 blanched hazelnuts (filberts)
6 oz. white confectioner's sugar
1 tbsp. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour & cocoa powder; set aside. Dissolve coffee granules in vanilla. In small mixing bowl beat margarine & sugar until fluffy. Add coffee mixture; mix well. Stir in flour mixture until blended.

Using a rounded tbsp of dough, shape mixture into balls. Place the balls about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press a hazelnut into center of each ball. Bake in 325 degree oven for about 15 minutes. Cool 1 minute on baking sheet. Remove to rack to cool completely.

In small saucepan melt together confectioner's sugar and 1 tbsp. shortening. Drizzle over cookies. Makes about 60 cookies.

Personal Notes:
I use 1/2 cup margarine and 1/2 cup butter instead of 1 cup of either. The margarine helps prevent flat cookies while the butter adds to the taste.
