1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
2 c mince meat
1/2 c apple butter or grape preserves
1 c chopped fruits and peel
1 c chopped walnut meats
1 tsp vanilla
2-3/4 c pastry flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

1 tbsp light corn syrup
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp lemon juice

Cream shortening with sugar and eggs. Add mince meat, preserves, fruit peel, nuts and vanilla. Add dry ingredients sifted together. Pour into prepared tube pan and bake in oven at 325 for 1-1/2 hours.

Glaze: Combine corn syrup, brown sugar and water. Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved; bring to a full boil. Stir in lemon juice.

Pour glaze over fruit cake.
