2/3 cup butter
2 cups sifted flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon instant coffee (optional)
3 eggs
2 1oz. chocolate squares

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all the above together until flour is dampened. Then beat vigorously for 2 minutes. Add the 3 eggs and 2 1 oz. chocolate squaresof unsweetened chocolate that has been melted. Add a couple drops of red food coloring. Mix and beat for another minute. Pour in a 12X4X2 inch loaf pan. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 65-70 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a piece of cardboard that has been covered with aluminum foil. Let the cake cool. Then dust top with powdered sugar.
