I large head of cabbage, washed and cut in half
salt and pepper
1/2 package bacon

Directions:
Directions:
Trim excess leaves off of cabbage, wash and cut head in half. Cut hard core from center of each half leaving only the leaves. Lay each half, flat side down on cutting board and slice. Set aside.

Dice and fry bacon in large frying pan. Drain nearly all of the bacon grease from pan and add cabbage. It will look like it's too much to fit in the pan, but it will shrink in just a few minutes after beginning to cook. Add some water and cover allowing cabbage to steam in water. Stir occasionally and make sure water doesn't cook down to wear cabbage will scorch. Cook until tender. Add a sprinkle of sugar for additional taste and salt and pepper before serving.
