olive oil
2 onions
4 cloves garlic
2 small cans tomato paste
1 pint strained tomatoes (I use large can of crushed, as strained are now hard to find....)
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
1 Tbs sugar
1 cup tomato juice
1 1/2 cups hot water
2 Tbs, oregano
1 Tbs. mixed Italian herbs
dash of Tabasco or red pepper

saute chopped onions and minced or pressed garlic in olive oil till translucent in soup pot.

Add tomato paste, strained tomatoes, tomato juice, and hot water, stirring over low heat.

add sugar, salt, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, Stir all in well.

cook over low heat, stirring frequently to keep the sauce from burning on the bottom of the pot. The longer it cooks the better it is.

Freezes well. I usually make a double batch and freeze up most of it. Much better than bottled stuff, and vastly cheaper too......
