1/2 c butter
1 c brown sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 tbsp baking powder
3 tbsp milk
3 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
3 oz brandy or dark rum
1/2 lb dates
1/2 lb candied cherries
1/2 lb candied pineapple
3/4 lb raisins
3 c chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 300. Cream butter and sugar; mix in egg yolks. dissolve baking powder in milk and combine with liquor. Add to oleo mixture alternately with 2 cups of flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the fruit and nuts that have been dredged in the remaining cup of flour. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Drop onto parchment lined cookie sheet by the teaspoonful. Bake 20-25 minutes.
