Directions: It was so much fun growing up on the farm beside Paw Paw & Pepene. If Paw Paw didn't see the boys at breakfast he always came in our house before going to work, that was a big advantage living on the farm where the shop was at. If he came too early and we were still in bed he'd just walk around the house to the bedroom window (we slept with our heads to the window) and peck on the window and talk to us. Sometimes we slept with the windows open and he would scare us just saying something suddenly waking us up. He always ate a big breakfast: sausage, bacon, country ham, eggs, gravy and biscuits and was always healthy. At 77 he had 20/20 vision, the doctor said he had the heart of a 20 year old man and he was in great shape and hard as a rock and very strong. When he was 71 years old and they were farming in Sugar Valley a 30 year old man blocked the driveway where they had to take the tractors out of the field. He tried to reason with the man for a long time but he wouldn't listen. Finally Paw Paw had enough. He punched him and Paw Paw said he went down like a dead cow. The man hopped right up and moved his truck without any more trouble. I bet he was surprised how strong Paw Paw was. Paw Paw loved his family. He loved to eat and see his grandkids eat. He was very proud of all of them. |
