2 C brown sugar
3/4 C butter
2 eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 C flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 C dried cherries, chopped
1 C almonds, sliced or slivered
(2) 1oz squares baking chocolate
1 tsp shortening

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 pan. Beat brown sugar and butter at med. speed until fluffy. Continue at med. spped and add eggs and almond extract. Reduce to low and add flour and baking powder. Turn off mixer and carefully stir in almonds and cherries. Pour in pan and bake 28-35 min until top is golden and middle is set.
In a small sauce pan over low heat, melt and combine chocolate and shortening. Drizzle over bars and cut to desired size.
