1 medium onion chopped
1 medium green pepper chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
2 T olive oil
1 pound ground beef or turkey
1 T oregano
2-4 T cumin
1 T sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 can petite diced tomatoes
1/4 c. stuffed green olives
1/2 c. raisins
1 can rinsed black beans

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions, pepper, and garlic in olive oil until vegetables are tender. Add meat and cook until browned. Drain thoroughly.

Return to skillet and add remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with rice.

My Cuban nanny (Nene) used to make this for my family. I love the pairing of salty olives with sweet raisins.
