16 oz. semisweet chocolate, divided
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla, generous
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder, generous
2 cups chopped pecans (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350º. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Coarsely chop 8 squares (8 oz.) or 1 package of the chocolate. Set aside. (See note.)
3. Microwave remaining 8 squares of chocolate in large microwavable bowl on HIGH 1-2 minutes. Stir after 1 minute. Stir after 2 minutes until chocolate is smooth.
4. Stir in sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder.
5. Stir in reserved chopped chocolate and nuts.
6. Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake 12-13 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute.
7. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
