1/2 c. shortening
1 1/3 c. sugar
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. mashed bananas

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Blend in vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk. Fold in mashed bananas last. This makes two 8" layers. Grease pans lightly and cover bottoms with waxed paper. Bake at 375 for 25 - 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
