6 Tbsp. butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 1/2 cup flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Glaze
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Cream butter & sugar until fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time.

Beat in lemon juice & peel.

Combine sifted flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mix alternaely with milk, beating just enough to blend.

Add nuts.

Line baking 8x4 baking pan with buttered wax paper. Bang pan down on work surface to even out batter.

Bake for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Glaze
Blend lemon juice & sugar. Pour slowly over hot bread.

Cool & store at least 24 hours before serving.
