2 ounces chocolate (cut in pieces)
2-1/2 cups milk
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tsps. vanilla
1 baked pie shell

Melt chocolate in milk in double boiler and blend with rotary egg beater. Mix flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt. Add to chocolate mixture and cook 15 mins., stirring constantly. The mixture should be thick and smooth. Stir a small amount of chocolate mixture into egg yolks and blend well. Return egg yolk mixture to double boiler and cook a few minutes longer. Add butter and vanilla. Cool filling and when cool pour into baked pie shell. Before serving whip heavy cream and spread lightly on filling. Sprinkle lightly grated chocolate on topping, if desired. Keep chilled until time to serve.
