1 c. butter
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. light corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla
nuts if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in brown sugar and salt; then add corn syrup and mix well. Add sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring until the temperature reaches 245º on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, beating well. Pour into two 8 or 9 inch greased baking pans. Cool and cut. Wrap in waxed paper.
(This recipe should be cooked slowly over medium heat.)
