Apple mixture:

2 - 3 peeled, sliced apples
5 T. butter
1 c. dark brown sugar
2 T. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. cinnamon



French bread, sliced 1" thick



Topping:

2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
In skillet over medium heat, melt butter and cook apples. Add sugar, syrup and cinnamon. Cook until sugar dissolves. Pour apple mixture into buttered baking dish. Arrange sliced bread over apple mixture. Combine topping ingredients. (I usually add more eggs or just double everything.) Pour over bread/apple layers. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered 30 - 35 minutes at 375º. Cool for 5 minutes and flip over onto large platter.
