1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. light molasses
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add egg and molasses; beat thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beating after each addition. Bake in a greased and lightly floured 8x8" pan at 350º for 35 to 40 minutes.
