2 c. all purpose flour

Directions:
Mix flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Using fork or pastry blender, cut in butter. Stir in raisins. Gradually add 1/2 c. or more buttermilk, enough so all dry ingredients are absorbed and dough is a bit sticky. Form into flattened round loaf and place in a greased pie pan. Cut a cross on top with a sharp knife. Brush a little milk or buttermilk over entire top of loaf. Bake in a preheated 375º oven, 30 - 40 minutes, until light brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
