3 cups Flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 T. pure vanilla

Icing for cake
4 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cups milk
2 T. flour
2 cans crushed pineapples

Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and add other ingredients. Beat 10 min. Make three layers and place in a cold oven. Bake about 30-40 min. at 350.

To prepare icing combine all ingredients into double boiler,cook until thick. Let cool before spreading on layers.
