2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3-4 apples
1/4 c. oleo
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan make a syrup: of sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg and oleo, heat. Pare apples, cut in thin, small pieces. In large bowl; add flour, salt and baking powder, mix well. Cut in shortening, add milk all at once and stir until moistened. Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut in 5 inch squares. Arrange apple pieces on each square and sprinkle with additional sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, dot with oleo. Fold corners to center, pinch edges together. Place 1 inch apart in greased 9x 13 inch pan. Pour syrup over. Bake at 375º for 35 minutes.
