1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup solid Crisco
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Put 1/3 cup of water over the raisins and let them soak for 3 hours. Drain off the extra water.
Cream shortening with sugar, add eggs, molasses, and then add dry ingredients a little at a time. Make two rows of dough on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375º for 18 - 20 minutes. Do not let them cool too much before cutting them into diagonal pieces.
