MEAT FILLING:
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c water
1 medium head of cabbage - shredded
1 onion - chopped fine
1 tsp salt
DOUGH:
3/4 c shortening
2 c warm water - divided
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
3/4 c sugar
6 - 7 c flour - divided
2 envelopes yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef, onion and salt. Drain any fat. Stir in water and cabbage. Cook until tender and water is gone.
Dissolve yeast into 1/2 cup warm water. Mix sugar, shortening, 1 1/2 cups water, salt, eggs, 3 1/2 cups flour and the dissolved yeast water. Beat until smooth. Gradually add the remaining flour. Cover and let raise in a warm place, until double in size. Turn out onto a lightly floured board. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle 1/4" thick. Cut dough into 5" circles. Place 1/4 cup meat mixture in each circle. Fold, matching edges, seal edges. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º until lightly brown.
