4 to 5# Corned Beef Brisket
water
1 sm.onion sliced
12 whole carrots
6 med. potatoes
2 small heads cabbage
2 cloves garlic(optional)
6 whole cloves
6 whole peppercorns
1 tsp. salt
6 med. onions
paprika

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse meat, add water to cover meat,onion,garlic,
peppercorns,cloves & salt;cover & bring to boil. Simmer gently. Cook about 3 hours,add more H2O if necessary to keep meat covered.Add carrots, potatoes & cook 10 mins. Add onions,cook 10 mins. Add cabbage cut in wedges & cook 10 mins.Drain meat & vegetables--sprinkle with paprika. Serve

This was one of Grandma Treadway's specialties. Always a favorite at our home. My Mother always added dumplings on top of the pot to steam the last 15 minutes.
