8 oz (1 3/4 c) uncooked elbow macaroni
1/4 c flour
2 c milk
8 oz (2 cups) American Cheese, shredded
1/8 tsp pepper

Cook macaroni to desired doneness as directed on package. Drain; rinse with hot water.
In jar with tight-fitting lid, combine flour and 1 cup of the milk; shake until well blended. Pour into medium saucepan; add remaining milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens. Add cheese; continue cooking until cheese is melted, stirring constantly. Add cooked macaroni and pepper. Heat thoroughly.

This is the official Pillsbury recipe. I don't follow it, just use it for reference. I use whatever pasta I have. I use whatever cheese is on hand (usually Colby/jack and Parmesan); it adds different flavors with different cheeses. A little pepperjack is yummy in the mixture as well. I like to put in a little bit of garlic and dried, minced onions, since the dish by itself is pretty bland. It goes well with fish sticks or chicken nuggets, but you can also put chicken, hamburger, or ham into the mac n cheese.
