12 slices of one-inch thick day-old French or Italian bread
8 large eggs
2 cups milk
¼ cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Butter large rectangular dish. Arrange bread slices in dish.

Whisk all other ingredients. Pour mixture over bread. Turn slices.

Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 425 degrees on highest oven rack 25-30 minutes until golden and puffy.

Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve with syrup.
