"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 to 1-1/2 Lbs Ground Beef or Ground beef and sausage mix as you like;
1 Large can of diced tomatoes - preferably Italian style;
1/2 medium onion chopped;
1 clove of garlic, minced;
2 Tbsp vegetable oil;
2 Tsp salt;
dash of pepper;
1/4 cup Heinz 57 Steak Sauce;
1-1/2 cup macaroni;
2 cups hot water

Directions:
Directions:
This is a one pan meal so use a large (preferable cast iron) frying pan. Brown the meat in the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion starts to become translucent. Drain as much of the oil as you can. Add the tomatoes, steak sauce, salt, pepper, and 2 cups of hot water. When the liquid begins to boil, stir in the macaroni. Turn the heat down to a simmer and cook for 18 - 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook longer if needed to get the macaroni done - I am not sure if you need to do anything else in Colorado.

Personal Notes:
I leave out the garlic and use onion powder since Barb is allergic to it. I also cut the salt down to 1 tsp because I don't need it. This is the best "goulash" I've tasted in a long time and easy to make and clean up.
