1 Qt. pears peeled and sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
2 or 3 slices of lemon

Cook slowly until pears are tender and syrup is pink colored and thin.

These were always a treat growing up and Mama worked to get plenty of syrup out of them because that was the favorite part to us kids. We also liked them cooked pretty long because the longer..the chewier they are and that's how we loved them. Now, Mama, Mary and Susan make them together and are sweet enough to share jars with others. After all that work...I'd be stingy and keep them for myself....but those three are NICE!!!!!!
