beet tops or cabbage leaves
rice
onions
butter
hamburger
salt and pepper
crushed cloves
chopped parsley
dill
small tin of tomato sauce (7.5 fl. oz.)
tomato juice
hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Wilt beet tops in sun or steam cabbage head until pliable.

Cook rice with water until all water is absorbed. Meanwhile, fry onions in butter. Add hamburger and fry together.

To cooked rice add salt and pepper, crushed cloves, chopped parsley, dill and fried onions and hamburger. Add small tin of tomato sauce.

Line bottom of pot with leaves. Form rolls, pour tomato juice over each layer and over top. Add more salt. Add hot water to almost cover. Cover with leaves. Cook.

Notes that Anne has added: 3 cabbages, 3 cups rice and 1 lb hamburger make about half a roaster.

Cook at 275º F.
