1 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. sugar
5 eggs
dash of salt
1/2 c. self-rising flour
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 1/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. almond
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add dry and wet ingredients alternately, beginning and ending with dry. Pour into greased and floured tube cake pan and bake at 300º for approximately 1 and 1/2 hours. Check doneness by inserting toothpick.
