CAKE-3tbsp. instant chocolate drink mix, 2 oz. red food coloring 1 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c shortening, 2 eggs, 2 1/2 c flour sifted 3 times, pinch of salt, 1 cup butter milk, 1/2 tsp. white vinegar, 1 tsp. baking soda. ICING-1 stick butter, 12 c shortening,1 c powdered sugar**, 3 level tbsp. flour, 2/3 c sweetened condensed milk, 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix chocolate & food coloring in small dish & set aside. In large bowl cream together shortening, sugar, butter & eggs. Blend in chocolate mix blend well. Blend in flour salt & butter milk. Remove beater & stir in with WOODEN spoon vinegar & baking soda. Remember to blend in soda & vinegar ONE @ a time, else it will explode. Pour into 2 greased & floured cake pans & bake @ 350º for 30 min. Cool before icing.

Icing- Original recipie called for granulated sugar, but I find it too grainy. Cream together butter, shortening & sugar. With mixer blend well flour, sweet milk, adding alternately 3x. Add vanilla, beat well untill fluffy, ice layer cake. If too warm in the house, cool in 'fridge & ice cake then.
