1 cup of sugar
1 1/4 cup ( 2 bananas) thinly sliced ripe bananas
1/2 cup shortening, margarine or butter softened
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

heat oven to 350
grease and flour bottom only of 9x5 or 8 x4 inch pan. in large bowl, blend sugar, bananas shortening and eggs, beat 2 minutes at medium speed, stir in nuts, pour into prepared pan
Bake @ 350 for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. cool 10 minutes, remove from pan.
makes 1 loaf
