1 cup buttermilk
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp shortening
4 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
6 1/2 cup flour
1/3 tsp soda
2 pkg dry yeast dissolved in warm water

scald milk, add next 3 ingredients, cool
mix in flour and soda with water and yeast to form dough, knead 8-10 minutes, let raise until double, punch down and knead for 2 more minutes, put in pans and let raise until double
Bake @ 400 for 25 minutes or until done
makes 2 loaves
