½ c shortening
½ c butter
2 c sugar
2 eggs

5 ½-6 c flour
¾ c cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp cloves
1 c chopped nuts
12 oz chocolate chips
2 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, cocoa, soda, cinnamon & cloves; set aside.

Cream butter, shortening & sugar – mix till fluffy.

Add eggs 1 at a time.

To the butter mixture, add flour mixture, alternating with the milk, ending with flour until completely combined.

Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Can be chilled overnight at this point if you like.

Scoop w/ cookie scoop onto a parchment lined or oiled cookie sheet. Bake 375º 10-12 minutes. Cool on wire baking racks

Icing:

Combine powdered sugar, water, vanilla and a pinch of salt.

Add food coloring if desired.

Ice cooled cookies.

dip tops in coconut if desired.
