1 c fine corn meal- Hoovers is best
1/4 c self rising flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 tbsp shortening ( bacon grease is best)

Directions:

Sift dry ingredients in one bowl and beat milk eggs and shortening in another bowl.

Gradually add dry ingredients and beat, beat, beat,

Pour into a well greased baking pan and place into 350º or 400º and bake until brown

Big Mama used to say that we shouldn't cut this with a knife, but rather "break" it off in chunks. She said it tasted different if we cut it.
