1/2 cup butter or butter flavor crisco
2 cups self rising flour
3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Using a pastry blender, mix butter and self rising flour until crumbly. Add buttermilk and stir with a fork. Roll out on a lightly floured surface, approximately 1/2 inch thick, thicker for even thicker biscuits. Place in preheated 375 degree oven for 18-20 minutes.

I never keep buttermilk as part of my cooking items, so I have found that the dry buttermilk which is located in the flour section of the grocery store, works great! These biscuits are the best I have ever eaten, and even better with homeade jelly!
