1 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 egg
1/3 cup hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/3 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, brown sugar and eggs together. Add the corn syrup. Heat the water and mix the baking soda in it. Add to the mixture. Start blending in flour. Once flour is blended, roll into one inch balls. If too soft and sticky, add a little more flour until the dough can be rolled into balls. Press with a cookie shape. Use the bottom of cut-glass shape in bottom.
Bake at 350ºF to 375ºF, depending on the heat of your oven, until golden brown, about 8-11 min. Remove from rack.
While still hot, put your favorite jam or jelly on one cookie and press another cookie on top for a lid.
When cool, place in a container with parchment paper between the layers and cover,
