8 eggs
1 1/2 to 2 c. milk
1 c. sugar
2 t. vanilla extract
slices of French bread cut 3/4 inch thick
6 cooking apples
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg
butter

Directions:
Directions:
Spray 9 x 13 pan with Pam. Blend eggs, milk, 1/2 c. (or less) of the sugar and vanilla. Pour half of this into baking dish. Place bread slices in mixture. Peel and slice apples and place over bread. Mix 1/2 c. (or less) of the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; sprinkle over apples. Pour remaining egg mixture over casserole; cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.

Preheat over to 350º. Dot with butter. Bake 1 hour (until puffy and lightly browned). Serve with maple syrup.
