"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Brown 2 to 3 lbs of beef cubes in a minimum of hot oil. Add fresh ground black pepper and ½ tsp of paprika to ¼ cup of flour and mix well. When meat is brown, sprinkle it with flour mixture and coat well. Then add:

1 cup beef boullion
1 cup tomato sauce
2 chopped onions
2 cloves chopped garlic
1 bay leaf
Chopped parsley to taste

Simmer covered for 2 hours. Add ½ cup of white wine and simmer another hour. About ½ hour before serving I add carrots in 1 ½ inch chunks, and in the last 5 minutes I add peas. Cook potatoes separately and add in the last few minutes- (as well as any other vegetable you like.)
