1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup raisins
1 cup water (drained from cooked raisins)
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
First cook raisins until tender, about 5 minutes, let cool. Dissolve soda in raisins after it cools. Cream sugar and shortening, add raisins, stir in dry ingredients alternating with juice. Spread thinly on large cookie sheet. Bake at 325º for 20-25 minutes.

Frost while warm with powdered sugar, flavor with either maple, lemon, or walnut flavoring.
