How did your mother spend her day? Did she have a job or do volunteer work outside the home?

Directions:
My mother did not work at public jobs. Sometimes we would chop cotton or pick cotton during the summer and fall.
Mother was a good seamstress and made clothes for my sister and me and my grandmother. She also sewed for others.
Then she operated the grocery store at Enville most of the time.
Also, my mother began teaching school when she was 15 years old, I think. She substituted for teachers part of the time-even when I was teaching she substituted for me.
