4 C. broccoli florets
3 C. cauliflower florets
1/2 C. chopped onion (1 medium)
1 T butter or margarine
1 can (10.75 oz.) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
3 oz. cheese
1/4 C. milk
1/2 t. dried basil or thyme
3/4 C. soft bread crumbs (1 slice of bread)
1 T. butter, melted

In a large saucepan cook broccoli and cauliflower, covered, in a small amount of boiling lightly slated water for 6-8 min. or until veggies are almost tender. Drain well and remove veggies from saucepan and set aside. In the same saucepan cook onion in 1 T. of butter over medium heat until tender stirring occasionally. Stir in soup, cheese, milk and basil. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until bubbly and cheese melts. Stir in broccoli and cauliflower. Pour mixture into a casserole dish. toss together bread crumbs and 1 T. melted butter; sprinkle over veggie mixture. Bake, uncovered at 375º for about 20 min. or until heated through.

If you like, substitute 8 C. frozen broccoli and cauliflower, thawed, for fresh broccoli and cauliflower florets. Prepared as at directed, except omit cooking the broccoli and cauliflower and bake for 35 min. or until heated through.
